Whether Palladium or E-Werk, Schauspiel Köln or Kulturbunker - in Cologne's Mülheim district, a lively and cool cultural and club scene has settled on an extensive, revitalized industrial site. Right in the middle of it all, a new place-to-be has now been created on the site of the old goods station with the Moxy Hotel and its interior design by Brumann.

Joint venture for Quartier I/D Cologne
For the young, urban 222-room concept of the Marriott Hotel Group, the project developer Art-Invest Real Estate commissioned an extraordinary new building in a joint venture with OSMAB Holding AG on the former factory site of the cable manufacturer Felten & Guilleaume. The building was designed by Caspar.Architekten from Cologne. The clients and the operating company Chocolate on the Pillow Group commissioned Brumann as general planner for the interior design and as general contractor for the interior fit-out as well as FF&E.

Industrial vintage style
With its eye-catching green clinker brick façade, the building at Kabellager makes a stylistic statement and clearly stands out from the neighboring properties. The same applies to the interior design. The lobby, bar and public areas on the first floor welcome guests in a modern industrial vintage style. Rough materials and historical references characterize the setting: the walls are clad in the weathered wood of old freight crates, the central toilet block is designed in the style of an old goods wagon and the technical installations under the concrete ceiling are largely open. Amidst this stylistic excursion into Mülheim's industrial history are inviting seating groups in a colorful mix of styles, a large co-working table and a state-of-the-art video wall. Meetings become a professional pleasure in the "Plug+Meet" areas thanks to well thought-out ergonomics, large blackboards and 56-inch screens. And the bar, which is open 24/7, is an attractive destination for guests and Mülheim night owls with its long bar, casual chill zones and well-stocked range of drinks.

Relaxation for guests
After the vibrant, lively style experience of the lobby, the corridors and rooms welcome guests with purist aesthetics and calm, clear lines. Delicate pales from the trendy greige spectrum allow body and soul to rest after an exciting day, and the ultra-comfortable, almost floating queen-size beds guarantee a restful night's sleep. The light-colored woods of the rooms are also found in the bathroom and give its simple graphic elegance a natural, warm touch.

On schedule
Developed with the ambition of setting a benchmark for urban, trendy hotels in Mülheim, the Moxy has also set a strong example in terms of project management: The hotel was handed over ready for guests a whole week ahead of the originally planned date.
