THE FUTURE NOW EXHIBITION PAVILION
From September 3rd to October 17th, Mauá Square in Rio de Janeiro, which already hosts the Museum of Tomorrow and the MAR (Museum of Art of Rio), will gain another architectural experience with the open-air exhibition pavilion: Future Now - Revisiting Earthen Architecture. The project is one of the few physical exhibitions that is integrated into the 27th edition of the World Congress of Architects. It is set off by Insight Architecture.
The initiative is executed in partnership with the architects Pedro Rivera and Diego Baloian, in collaboration with the Swiss Institute of Technology ETH Zurich, and the support from the Swiss General Consulate in Rio de Janeiro. This public exhibition is about innovation within the construction techniques of rammed clay, called pisé, and digital fabrication with clay.
As a pure-wood construction, the exhibition pavilion is designed by Chilean architect, Diego Baloian (together with Sebastián Silva, Matías Baeza and Juan Pablo Peró), in collaboration with ITA, a Brazilian construction company specialized in sustainable wood. The exhibition is curated by Insight Architecture. Its content is realized in partnership with the ETH Zurich, by the architects Fabio Gramazio and Matthias Kohler of Gramazio Kohler Research, and Roger Boltshauser.
As part of the parallel event to the UIA 2021 Rio congress, Insight Architecture also produces in collaboration with Swissnex Brasil webinars on impactful technological developments for the future.
