Simon Edelmann

Simon Edelmann was born in 1984 in Heppenheim, Germany. From 2003 to 2008 he studied architecture at the ETH Zurich. He graduated in 2009 under Professor Markus Peter, following an internship with Marcel Meili Peter Architekten in Zurich. He acquired his first professional experience with Pfister Architekten in Zurich from 2009 to 2011.

In 2012 Simon Edelmann joined Fischer Architekten, where he took over the function of project manager in 2016. He established a reputation in the field of competitions and has been jointly responsible for several successfully completed projects. From 2018, as a member of the wider management team, he provided Christian Leuner with support on design-related questions at all project stages. Since 2020 he has been a member of the management team and a joint shareholder. Together with Christian Leuner, he is responsible for the area of competitions, among others.

Carol Gartmann

Carol Gartmann was born in 1968 in New Jersey, USA. After attending secondary school in Vaduz (FL) and taking an all-round banking internship in Zurich and Lugano she studied business administration at Zurich University.

After completing her studies, her first job was with Arthur Andersen (today Ernst & Young). While working there, from 1996 to 1999 Carol Gartmann completed a part-time training course to become a certified Swiss auditor. After a further year with Arthur Andersen, in 2000 she moved to agri.ch as Head of Finance. In a management buy-out that subsequently followed she moved to green.ch as a member of the management team.

In 2004, for family reasons there followed a number of part-time positions as finance and personnel manager in various international and regional businesses in the engineering, medical and architecture sectors.

In 2013 Carol Gartmann joined Fischer Architekten AG as head of human resources and finances. Since 2017 she has been a member of the management team and a joint shareholder.

Christian Leuner

Christian Leuner was born in1961 in Lucerne. He studied at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts, North-western Switzerland (previously HTL), where he graduated in 1986 under Klaus Vogt and Michael Alder. His first job was working from 1986 to 1988 in the office of Klaus Vogt. Up until 1990 he undertook lengthy study and educational travels to India, South-east Asia, Australia, and the USA. In Sydney he worked for Harry Seidler from 1988 to 1989. While there he had the opportunity to work on the high-rise “Shell Headquarter” in Melbourne and taught as an assistant at the University of New South Wales under Professor John Roberts. In 1990 he founded his own architecture office and worked together with several architects, including Danilo Zampieri. From 1991 to 1993 he was design assistant to Professor Dolf Schnebli at the ETH Zurich. His collaboration with Danilo Zampieri led in 1995 to the founding of the firm Leuner & Zampieri Architekten AG, which was based in Aarau and Zurich.

For his work as a practicing architect Christian Leuner has received numerous competition prizes and awards, including in 1995 the SIA-Preis “Priisnagel” from Canton Aargau. In 1995 he began a post-graduate course in “Architecture and Urban Planning” at the ETH Zurich under Professor Mario Campi, which he completed successfully in 1997. After years of collaboration between the firms of Leuner & Zampieri Architekten AG and Fischer Architekten AG, in 2002 in the context of organising the handover of responsibilities in the old-established firm, these two offices merged under the direction of Christian Leuner as the main shareholder.

Today Christian Leuner is managing director of Fischer Architekten AG, where he heads the design department together with Simon Edelmann.

Gian Müller

Show Biography

Gian Müller was born in 1982. From 2007 to 2010 he trained as a draughtsman at the Gewerbliche Industrielle Berufsschule (GIB) in Bern. He acquired his first professional experience between 2010 and 2013 with Reinhardpartner Architekten in Bern. In 2013 he began to study architecture part-time at Zurich University of Applied Sciences, successfully completing his studies in 2016.

Gian Müller joined Fischer Architekten AG in 2013 and in 2014 took over the function of project manager for building construction. He has been a member of the wider management team since 2018 and heads the area digitalisation/BIM. He provides the management with support on construction-related questions at all project phases.

Mark van Kleef

Mark van Kleef was born in 1968 in the Netherlands and grew up in Switzerland. He studied architecture at the ETH Zürich and graduated in 1996 under Professor Hans Kollhoff. After working for some time as an assistant for design and construction at the chairs of Andrea Deplazes and Valerio Olgiati, in 1999 he joined Max Dubler Architekten as project manager and was responsible for building up the Zurich office. Until 2017 he was managing director of this office and was jointly responsible for all the projects in Switzerland. He then worked for three years as head of development at a well-known real estate firm in Zug.

In 2020 Mark van Kleef joined Fischer Architekten as a member of the management team and a joint shareholder. He devotes himself mainly to detail design, as well as to the areas of tendering and contracts.
