Dutch charm meets a design strategy
In the middle of nature in a local recreation area in Vinkeveen, 18 km south of Amsterdam, the interior designers at i29 interior architects + Chris Collaris Architects have designed a holiday home in the style of a “Tiny House”. On a footprint of only 55 m², the dark, cuboid object creates a comfortable feeling of space with a panoramic view of the natural area around it. The floor plan is conceived from the inside out so that every centimetre is used through an intelligent allocation of functions.
The positioning of the building is connected with the view of the surrounding water and the direction of movement of the sun. The compact holiday home was planned for a four-person family and includes a living room, kitchen-diner, a patio, three bedrooms a bathroom and two toilets. Tailored furniture and integrated cupboards emphasise the graphical quality inside as well. Simple materials such as wooden sheets in oak, stained in a natural colour or in black, are combined with the rough pine of the black exterior façade, complemented by a continuous, polished concrete floor. Every aspect of the design has been taken into account to ensure a clean and uniform experience is offered: simple but intelligent is how the “Tiny Holiday Home” positions itself at the highest level while simultaneously being energy efficient, environmentally friendly and with a low space requirement.
The design of the “Tiny Holiday Home” by the architects at i29 combines a design strategy, the architecture and the interior brought together in a model combination. Harmonious and laid-back, the classic JUNG LS 990 design in white clearly integrates into the linear architecture and sets subtle accents.
