The agglomeration scheme is based on a principle of “centers-nodes-axes”, where the axes of public transport form the spine of the existing and future urbanization. The project contains future urbanization in a triangle around an open landscaped park. A mixed program is a condition sine qua non in order to create the spaces of a dynamic future life. Variations in the proposed densities aim in creating central spaces for the new developments.
The landscaped park emphasizes two structural elements. The protection of natural zones through a landscaped park consolidates future projects by giving them coherence and proper identity. And the linking courses provide the opportunity for agricultural activity to establish educational programs, gastronomic supply and direct sales.
CERN can connect these zones, giving them a public character, by introducing a scientific promenade that communicates CERN’s activities to the public. The mobility project is based on the hypothesis that a modest improvement of the road network should be coupled with heavy improvement of “soft” mobility networks and public transportation.
