Lindbergh - Allee Glattpark

The typology of the buildings and exterior spaces is clearly defined in the plan for the Glattpark district. Perimeter constructions and a network of exterior spaces define the gradation from public to private space. This clarity has an extra function, forming the basis for variety within precisely defined rules. The design envisages a perimeter construction on Lindbergh-Allee for residential and service use. Two interior courtyards structure the body of the building, provide access to the apartments and supply natural light to the offices facing Thurgauerstrasse. There are large shop spaces on both Lindbergh-Allee and Thurgauerstrasse that serve the Glattpark district. Large-surface units are found in the ground floors; wholesalers on Lilienthal Boulevard and Thurgauerstrasse and a restaurant and small business on Lindbergh-Allee. For the façade, the aim was to create a striking impression with a minimum of elements. A modular façade was chosen, allowing multiple uses and impressively cladding the body of the building, whilst guaranteeing economy and sustainability. The storeys above offer apartments for one or two-person households, which make efficient use of space. Open-plan living rooms with loggias on both sides give a spacious feeling and provide views of both the interior courtyard and the surroundings.
