The design of the garden is based on the architectural interaction between the house and the various garden levels as they relate to each other. This is achieved by a glass and wooden bridge, which subtly links the living area with the garden, and by amelanchier canopies planted in the lower garden level which extend above the living area. A gravel path winds through a field of tulips to the tea and spice gardens. Grass cushions, planted in the shape of a wave, reproduce the movement of the water and are framed by a dense bamboo hedge. Slim ash trees create a transparent edge at the shore without obstructing the view of the lake.
