Insgesamt haben sich 275 Architekturbüros aus 42 Ländern mit ihren Projekten beworben, leider waren nur sehr wenige aus dem deutschsprachigen Raum dabei. Die Auszeichnung «World Building of the Year» erhielten Frances-Jones Morehen Thorp and Archimedia für die Aukland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki in Neuseeland. Der nächste WAF-Award wird bereits 2014 ausgeschrieben.
